Hydro Turbines

Kumsung, with its technical collaboration / cooperation with European turbine design and manaufacturing companies, becomes a reliable source for the various hydro turbines, from pico to medium hydro turbines.
Basically the turbine wil be designed for the net head and flow defined by the Client.
Performance/Efficiency of the turbine shall be guaranteed subject to the applicable codes, standards and Client's requirements.

Product Range
- Pelton Turbine
- Francis Turbine
- Kaplan Turbine
- Tubular Turbine

Pelton Turbine

Pelton Turbine, a water impulse turbine is the preferred turbine for hydro power when the available water source has relatively high hydraulic head at low flow rates, where the Pelton turbines is most efficient. Thus, more power can be extracted from a water source with high pressure at low flow than from a source with low pressure and high flow, even when the two flows theoretically contain the same power.

Francis Turbine

Francis Turbine, an inward-flow reaction turbine that combines radial and axial flow concepts can be designed for a wide range of heads and fows.
Consequently, with its high efficiency, Francis Turbine becomes the most widely used turbine in the World. In addition to the electrical production, Francis turbine can also be used for pumped storage, where a reservoir is filled by the turbine driven by the generator during periods of low demand, and then reversed and generate power during peak demand - a kind of storage of excessive electrical energy.

Kaplan Turbine

Kaplan Turbine, a Propeller-type Water turbine which has adjustable blades, covers the lowest head hydro sites and are especialy suited for high flow conditions.
Inexpensive micro turbines on the Kaplan turbine model are manufactured for individual power production with as little as two feet of head.

Tubular Turbine

Tubular turbine, gaining increased interests and reputation across the globe, is often used in place of Kaplan turbines where low head development with minimal space is required. Since tubular type requies less space than other types of turbines, a saving in civil engineering works can be realized.
Tubular turbines can be adjusted for the current flow rate by adjustable wicket gates and adjustable runner blades, thus enabling the turbine to achieve high efficiency even where the flow rates have large variation.
